Thanks Jon! If I make the RHD model (and I dont see why I wouldn't) you will receive a discount on yours for participating and paying the post to ship your old one up here.

Much appreciated.

Carl et al,
there is an out fit in Aussie that make one for RHD models - was mentioned on here a couple of years ago. I checked recently and they still do it. I will try to get the name of the outfit when I get home.

Price in NZ was $410- so probably around AUS $380-.

This may or may not make it worthwhile manufacturing them.

Myles

thanks Carl - the one I sent is out of the 90GT , replaced with a new old stock - The 88SE is still on the original 21 yrs old so it has to be living on borrowed time - time to replace with one of yours before the inevitable happens.

I agree Jon.

Good to know Myles, but I think if those Aus prices are still valid, I've got room to make mine and sell it for less than that. We'll try at least.

To cut down costs, you could make it out of the right diameter pipe with a waterjet cut top and bottom. Then a little welding and your done.

Finding 9" approx diameter extruded round alu pipe isn't easy - a quick google comes up with a maximum 120mm diameter. Only other sources would be alu yacht mast manufacturers but I've never seen any plain round masts of that size - they all tend to be "rounded off rectangles" and have a bolt rope track extruded into the section.

Carl,
If you can make a RHD one & with freight it is less than the Aussie one then I would be very interested. I will keep a watch on your site. My one is also original.

Good timing!

Old one just started to leak. Ordered one of Carl's today.

Got the RHD unit here now. As expected, it's more than just rotating the top plate. The nipple on the bottom is oriented differently too.

No problem, we can make this part. I am sending it to the pattern shop now.

BTW: aluminum pipe and aluminum tubing are not the same thing. You dont want anything to do with aluminum pipe, the alloys are terrible, ugly to weld, and they will likely be Schedule 80 thick wall (heavy)

Aluminum tube will hold alloy specs accurately, but is more expensive in these diameters, and none available in the exact size we wanted (BTDT). Making it the way we did allowed us to scale it up or down to exactly the size we wanted and the shape we needed for ease of installation without having to remove a fender to get it installed.

The shape we have from the materials we have provided the best quality, fitment, and lowest per piece cost.

For those that asked, we have imported a RHD coolant reservoir and modeled a RHD all-aluminum replacement from it.

They are now available for RHD cars.

Thanks to Jon in OZ for sending me his used RHD reservoir from his 90 GT. Thats how it gets done! Thanks Jon!

Just ordered one. Figure I can't go wrong with this plus I can be ready to add a supercharger with the higher pressures this tank will afford.

How is one related to the other?
If you need a higher pressure tank after adding boost, something is wrong with the coolant system or the engine.

If you need a new tank anyway (many 928's do) this is a good unit over the OEM.

Is there no visible level indicator on the RHD one ? If there is and I am missing it, I will order one....

All the best Brett
