Smile What colors/materials did OB cargo covers come in?

I see that there is plenty of posts on the newer style luggage covers, but what on OB's? The OB covers are different and snap in. My car came with it (per the window sticker) but it's long lost. I have a cork full leather interior with cork carpet, pannels, dash, etc. I found someone with a mint black one for sale.

My questions are;

1. Did the OB original covers come in matching color of the interior or just black? (I can not find any pictures of anything but black regardless of interior color)

2. Did they come in different materials? (Chucks -Kermit - seems to be black cloth - but he has black carpet. I also saw a picture of a khacki colored OB with full cork color interior and it had black cloth too. Dave's OB is black vinyl.

4. What's a good OB cover worth? (Are they priced like S4 OEM or mint condition covers? is cloth worth the same as vinyl or vice versa?

5. Does Paul (or anyone else) make an OB aftermarket option that fits as the OEM one did?

thanks!

AFAIK they are black only - I have three cars with them all different colors and the covers are black.
Not aware of anyone making them. Paul and I talked about it.

Mine has a burgandy cover, same as the rest of the interior, and it's cloth. Don't have the original sticker, so I don't know if it came with the car or was purchased afterward.

Mine is black, but not an original Porsche item, I tracked it down on ebay a couple of years back, although I live in the UK it is made by a company called "David Honl co " in the USA..., davidhonl.com.

It,s a far superior quality than the original Porsche fitment, guess I was lucky to find it.

Brian down here in Oz makes covers last I heard - Linekker Leather? Cant see him on Ebay right now, but he used to do them.
FWIW, mine is white leather, with white zippers, to match the rest of the interior.

The original off my 79 is faded and pretty much shredded, but it looks like it was dark brown at some point. (My interior is Cork as well) The material is something like Suade I think???

I thought I found one for sale but it was vinyl and I want the suede/velor version. Anyone got one they want to sell me?

My gts has black with some sort of lycra in it and has faded alittle in 16 years but not bad and not stretched any. I wonder if anyone ....maybe Champagne ...knows what this material originally was called. I like it though.!

Ed,
I am so glad you pointed out that this thread was duplicated. I remember posting to this thread but when I went back my post was gone. I am not mad yet 8>)

This post is also about the old style luggage cover and not the later style.

Just for the record I sell the newer style covers made by Lineker Leather in Australia.

I am actually in the process of designing a conversion kit, so the early cars can use the later luggage cover design.
The early design was not as practical to use as the later luggage cover, obviously the reason why Porsche re-designed it so early after it's introduction.

If I am successful, my leather covers, along with the storage boxes, will be available for all years.

Paul,
I want the original design for my early cars.
What about making those?
Roger
