I vote for the WTF ending. The holbert car is 20k away from being a 5k car. Very few people like the 928....Porsche included. Only 60k 928 cars were produced and internet searches will show cars for sale for next to noting and in some cases they are free. When was the last time you saw a 69 ss camaro shell given away. Trying to fix the shell is a waste of time and money. Strip it down and build another car. I hate the be the bad guy but ... this is just my 2 cents.

I vote strip it down build another car and get on with life!

I think you will end up A) getting the most $ out of it and B) preserving the historical significance of it best by offering up everything original from the Holbert car together as a package (including intake etc) and transferring all racing specific stuff you added to a new rolling chassis. Between all the donations for $, parts and labor being offered up I don't see any value to re-using much of the existing car as is when you can replace with fresh straight parts that would be better for racing. Just take everything applicable for racing and put it in a fresh chassis and sell the Holbert car mess as a complete resto project. Makes the most sense (to me at least) on a lot of levels. Best wishes for what ever direction you take and I hope youre back healthy and racing competitively again soon!

The only reason to restore it should be for setting another record of some sort. Doesn't have to speed related, although it would be most relevant.

I don't care how much you straighten out the old girl, I don't think I would want to drive it over 30 after that much metal fatigue on the shell.

It's just like the comment about classic muscle cars. Just because some older
cars have value, there are plenty of junky, rusty rat rods and old pintos that
no one thinks are valuable, even though they are old, and rare... I think in
30 or 40 years, if you still have your 928, kids will think it's a "cool old car",
but no one will think it's worth a lot of money.
