Any one running 19s
As in the title any one got new 19" wheels? If so what sized tyres are you using? The genuine Porsche wheels which are 11" rears with 67 mm offset look like they might be a fit. Comments, info please.

greg,
i had the 11 inch 67 offset rears on my 90 gt with 295 factory tires and i needed a 13mm spacer to keep the tires from rubbing the control arm. otherwise fit fine.

I am running champion motorsports 11.5" rims in the rear and 8.5" front. I have to run a 5/16" spacer so they don't hit the control arm...also had to roll the rear quarter. my car is a 1980 euro "s" Only run 19" rims if you like a ****ty ride. My car looks cool as **** but rides like a tank!

I'm running 19" OEM Carrera Classics that were take offs from a Cayman. Same fronts as on a 997, but rears are 9.5" wide vs. 11".
Fronts - 8x19 et 57
Rears - 9.5x19 et 46
Bolt straight up, no spacers needed. In fact with the offset, the rears are pretty tight in the wheel well.
I really like them because they're a factory Porshce wheel and one of the best looking too IMHO...

Thanks Smudmaar, that is starting to be one huge wheel, good info. Redpathtribe and others, what is your opinion of the ride quality. We have one who believes it is terrible, any slightly different opinions.

Hi Greg,
9.5" F / 11" R Continental 265/30-19 and 315/25-19 Tires.
Concerning ride quality, depends on tire and pressure. BUT for a fun car I wouldn't want anything but 19s, for a real daily commuter I might want something less like 17s.

Greg,
Ride quality is somewhat subjective. I don't mind a stiffer, tighter ride, while some may not. I don't have any complaints about ride in my GT. DR is right though, I recently replaced totally worn out Michelin PS2's on the rear with Kumho Ecsta SPT's and the ride was noticably better. Both are 19" tires, but comparing a totally worn out tire to a new one no matter what brand probably isn't fair.
I would say if you don't mind a firmer ride, go for it! And as far as selection, I don't believe it. Go to Tire Rack and check out the selection of 19" tires, you'll see plenty... and it will only get better as time goes on.

These are my biggest complaints and positives
minus
19" rims = big $ to buy and small selection
19" tires = big money to buy and small selection
car rides like a tank/you can feel every bump
need to know the road...easy to trash a rim/tire
every1 on the road will want to race you(you car will look fast standing still)
plus side
the car is vey nimble
looks like a modern supercar
most 19" rims are forged...my rear 19x11.5 rims/tires weigh 45ish lbs
every1 on the road will want to race you(you car will look fast standing still)

The reason that I say there is a lack of selection Rick is because there are alot of REALLY good performance and regular tires which are not offered in 19" rubber.
right now the best spot to be is with 18"
And I have a set of 18x11" rims for my 928 that each rim weights between 14-15lbs Show me a 19" rim that weights that! the 19x10.5 that I have on the rear of mine weights in at more than 3x that.

I'm sure apples to apples an 18" wheel will weigh less as well, but I think for the driving most of us are doing, unless it's all out wheel to wheel racing, the real weight difference won't make much, if any, difference.

maybe I should correct that, good rubber at affordable rates.
Such as the Falken Azenis RT-615, Toyo R1R, R888 (3 sizes in 19"), RA1, Most of the Bridgestone Potenza series of tires,
The list can go on for awhile, but I will end it there.

Ahhh... Those tires!
When I said I didn't see a huge difference when I was looking recently was probably because I wasn't looking at those tires! I guess what I should have said is when I was looking at Michelin PS2's, BFG KDW2's, Bridgestone Potenzas (various), Kumho Ecsta SPT's, Sumitomo HTRZ III's, Fuzion ZRi's, Goodyear Eagle F1's (various)... I could go on too
Not trying to argue here, but I think there is a very good selection of 19" tires out there in all price ranges and in high quality brands. No doubt there may be more selection for 18"... for now... but that will change too. I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor in my final decision whether I got 19" wheels or not (back to Greg's original question).
Recently needed new 19" rear tires for my GT. REALLY wanted to go for the PS2's that were on there before, but for a $200 difference PER TIRE , I ended up going with the Kumhos. Great bang for the buck...

I was abit upset that the KDW dont have a 295/30 and the only option was a 295/35 in 19" that makes for a 27.1" tall tire!
Since then, I am not happy with it. There is VERY little grip considering.
