Wally it can be like playing "no limit holdem" ....start out betting with a bad hand and quickly you get "Pot Committed". This "car" only works for someone who ENJOYS doing their own work AND has the time and space to part it if that ends up being the best use for it !

I insured a motorcycle once that had a salvage title. I also had an extra 10k in coverage on it since it was extensively modified. It was stolen out of my garage two years ago while I was at the Laguna Seca MotoGP. They paid me $18,400. It took them three months and a lot of heated arguments (my 3rd bike stolen in four years...) but I still got paid.

Most insurance companies will value a salvaged title vehicle at a lower value if it gets damaged especially if you are trying to collect from the other guy's insurance company , like if you only carry liability and some jerk slams into you.....

Nevada along with MANY other states treat a salvage title like any other title, they will also simply send you a clean one back. Nevada is ONLY conserned with salvage title cats that are purchased from Auctions. these cars must undergo a certificate of road worthyness by certain mechanics licensed to do so.
Being as California is NOT one of these places and other states are not, it seems you may need to get this running and drive it or sell for parts or a parts car....

If its on the carfax or autocheck that info will never go away, but the paper title can be washed various ways using states that don't require a title, just a bill of sale. Same trick I think some importers use to bring in a car from Japan through Canada etc.

The cost to repair a damaged vehicle is greater than the vehicle is worth.
A car with a salvage title cannot be financed through a bank. (At least here in the states)

My 84' came with a salvage title. When I regestered it here in NV the salvage title remained. Here in NV it is called a reconstruct. Same thing as a salvage just a different name. Please let me know if you know how to get a clean title...I have all the documentation detailing why my car has the salvage title but it would be nice to have that brand removed if possible.
BB,
So if the title CURRENTLY isn't salvage branded and its registered WHO CARES ABOUT THE SALVAGE, that isn't gonna affect anyone. DMV does not run a carfax and doesn't care about the past. If its clean now, then these guys are home free to buy it!
