Default The "James Morrison" DVD..................

Well, I am nearly halfway through with my copy of James Morrison's own "928 Evolution" and all I can say is.... wow....

The day started out like any other day. The wife and I walked our dog out to the mailbox in the afternoon and while Rocky was planting land mines, (yes I cleaned them) I hear my wife call out and ask me if I had any gay lovers in Texas.
"Huh?" What are you talking about?" I ask.
"Some guy named James sent you a DVD, probably ****..." she says.

It was James DVD. It's great.
The main reason I bought this video was in hopes that my wife would learn a little about my car and see it for what it really is. Her only impression of the 928 is my two, and one previous. None of them ever ran for me! The two I own now are 1. in a million pieces and 2. parked in the street not running. hint hint...
Well, we sat down about half an hour ago to watch it, with wifey actually wanting to. After about 10 minutes were are looking at each other like "what is this?" I admit, my first reaction was "You can't be serious..."
But then.
Here comes the disclaimer across the bottom of the screen-
[Professional driver on closed course]
"Ah Yeah! NOW here we go!!" You see what looks like the dash of a full blown race car rounding what looks like some ritzy European track. I'm concentrating on the throaty sound of the exhaust tone when my wife is the one who actually notices what's really going on... "Oh my gosh, that guys not even wearing a helmet!" She catches James reflection in the rear view mirror. Then I see what looks like the blur of a father walking with his toddler daughter along side the "track". Oh sweet! James is ripping his race car around his own neighborhood! Now THAT'S my type of guy!

And then comes the track footage! James, I can't think of any better compliment than, "thanks to your race footage, I have now taken the 87 off CL and am going through with my track car/DD project!"

I'm actually writing this as the DVD is playing listening to the sounds of the engines race around the track. I have always been memorized by the sound of high performance engines screaming, it does something for me. Which leads me to my only problem I had with the video. There was a lot of great technical conversation going on that wasn't audible due to the soundtrack. James, is it possible I could get a copy without the sound track? I really wanted to hear the engine of the GTS scream down the autobahn but I couldn't hear anything over the music.

One of my favorite features of the DVD and what makes it truly personal was the addition of so many forum members own cars!
I was able to say "Honey look! (yes, she's still watching!) that's Dan's car, the guy from Hawaii, and she knew who I was talking about and loved the color! Hopefully, we get a part 2 and my own vehicle is immortalized!

Bottom line is this.
Buy the DVD, you won't regret it.
Just leave it on your coffee table for when you have over company, pop it in for them when they get curious about what's parked in the driveway

Thank you James!

Blythe,

Glad you got it and glad you enjoyed it! I tell you why there is all the music over the talking on the A-bahn... we were playing RUSH in the background and unfortunately they would not GIVE me the rights to their music and I don't own the millions of dollars worth of gear that would be required to remove JUST their music from the DVD, so instead of taking out ALL the talking that was going on and ALL the engine sounds I had to cover up the music as best I could with other music that I have the rights to... SO SORRY about that! If I had to do it over again I would NOT have had the radio playing in the background! DANG IT! Hind sight is 20/20!

Thanks SO MUCH for the kudos on the DVD! I really wanted even more folks to participate by sending me pics of their cars, and I asked several times and even at that I had to twist a few arms! Thanks to those who DID participate! I really appreciate all the pics that were sent and I think I used nearly ALL of them too!

Fabio, PM me and I'll give you the contact info for payment and your address to send a copy on tomorrow.

Thanks again to you all! I appreciate your great support! Look for the 928 Calendar "High Heels & Hot Wheels 2010" coming out soon!

I can just picture some spouses prying off the repeat button on the DVD player.

Rush, awesome! I was trying to point out the significance of The Scorpions playing in the background on the autobahn to my wife! lol...

I totally understand the legality of it. I knew there must of been some reason for the midi sounding overdubbing!

Yea, I would have left that out if possible... It is synth stuff, but not midi "music" actually.

BTW BB, I LOVE that avitar! That car still holds a few records at tracks that Indy cars have gone to continuously over the years and it set those records in the early '90's! I REALLY miss the Group C cars! Toyota, Nissan, Jag, Porsche! They were THE BEST!

Plus it was cool to see my euro engine featured on the dvd....I only wist I sent james some pics of my car as well. Thanks again for putting a smile on my face James!

My pleasure gentlemen! Thanks for the support! Who says no good can come from being out of work?! I have been able to work on and complete a lot of really fun projects during my forced down time...

To date I have sold about 55 or 60 copies (I have not counted lately) and there are SEVERAL hundred folks on this forum, so come on guys! Help a brother out! You won't be disappointed, it is a hell of a fun video! You get to see shots of every year model of 928, many with various aftermarket wheels so you can see how you like them, all different colors too and even some AWESOME custom interiors. You get to see (and HEAR) them on track and on the street, and you get a preview of the hotties that will appear in the upcoming calendar!

Thanks folks! You guys are the BEST!

I and another 928'er worked at AAR during the Mk. 3's reign (he's still there). The full potential of that car was never realized as IMSA took a few draconian measures to bring the car back to the pack, including what Dan called a "hummingbird spinchter" in the intake tract. There was a wet race at Road America, I believe, where Juan and PJ stayed on slicks despite standing water on the course, and lapped several cars on wets. This was due to the incredible downforce generated by the cars' aerodynamics. The announcers of the race were beside themselves watching this. The only race won by a car other than the Eagle Mk. III in 1993 was the only race Toyota did not enter. That race was won by an old Porsche 962.

WOW! That is something! I didn't realize they had restricted that car so far! Imagine if that car had been fully uncorked in a race setting! OMG! What a beast! Probably would have been faster than an F1 car from that day...hell, maybe STILL faster than an F1 car! The Group C cars were AMAZING!

Yeah, not bad for a 2.1L turbo. The crew called it the "little engine that could". Once TRD made it reliable it was unbeatable. The same engine was used in a Pikes Peak unlimited car sometime back, Rod Millen may have driven it.

B.B.'s avatar appears to be a late '91 or early '92 car as it has a "Nessie" on it.
