CO claims car needs computer after attempted jump start usiing a 200AMP charger. Is there a common issue with frying something else during a bad jump start attempt. Perhaps a fuse/relay?

Its almost never the brain on a early car.
Check the fuses and relays, but otherwise troubleshoot the same as any other non start on a early car, fuel, spark, and compression?

This reportedly happened when someone reversed the polarity when trying to jump a '80.

Its unlikely to be a relay - since they survive switching spikes very well - ECU's not so much...
I'd assume he'd fix it if it were really easy - so I'd also assume he's correct that something more expensive got fried...

200 amp charger isn't the menace that a fully charged battery is in jumping. Certainly could cause some damage, but a safer bet is that the car has some longer term issue and picked that time to go terminal.
Chances are also good that it isn't one thing wrong but the usual host of neglected items.
