No JB weld in the tool box but I do have high temp silicone.............black stuff.

That may work as a temp fix until Roger supplys a new part.

No-one nearby with a supply?
Mind, you, mine seems to run ok with the slight pressure leak, (Just under the second white bar, without the A/C on) and JB is a rather permanent soution once it sets up.
IMHO Best to wait for the replacement. Go with the silicone for now.

The #16 piece was manufactuerted in 2 pieces...............I'll RTV the loose piece and hopefully it'll hold.

Another piece of info to consider...............one of many winter projects was replacing the water pump; do I have more pressure to cause failure?

Another consideration, I suspended the engine from above to R&R the OPG............did that cause stress on the piece?

Did you try to tighten down the bolts that hold it in place? Not unusual for the gasket to leak at that point.

Yes, thats the part #.

I'm sure its the part itself as I had the metal piece that the hose clamps in my hand. I cleaned it up last night and RTV it in place. Next is to carefully fit the water valve hose, top up the a/f and start the car fingers crossed.

I was stranded by the same problem and a roadside mechanic used JB weld to do a temporary repair on the same part.. When I got home I ordered the part to fix it right. Upon comparing the JB weld repaired part with the new one it was clear that the JB weld repaired part was far less likely to fail than the new part. I have kept the JB weld repaired part to re use when the new one fails.

ok...........here's the results of my temp fix.

The car ran perfect to the show and shine, 180km round trip but is leaking again now parked in the garage at home.

Obviously RTV is not the trick but it got me to the show and back today. I'll get some JB weld tomorrow and fix it again.

Colin if you read this shoot me a PM on the condition of your used part.

Interesting comments 'shawscove'. Wonder how many out there are about to have the experience.

Thanks to all for reading and contributing to resolve. The adventure continues

Malcolm,
Mine is from an 85/86 engine, it is the same part, but very old like yours too. But it is still pressed in there and it didnt leak when it was removed.
However if you can get JB weld I would go that way for this part. Just make sure to clean all the surfaces and scuff them up with sandpaper to ensure that they will properly adhear.

If you want mine though let me know
