Default What sensor is this?

Near the water passage before the heater valve there is a sensor with 2 vacuum connections coming off of it. What sensor is this? what does it do?

I think that's a thermo switch that allows vacuum to pass through only when the water is up to temp (or maybe it's closed until then). Not sure what it passes the vacuum through to though.

the vacuum line goes to the switching pot on the right fender just in front of the washer fill tube it is opened when the temp reaches a certain degree. this then lets fuel vapors into the engine
