Just talked to Phil and Detailers Domain. Looks like I'll go with Merzerna products & the Flex. Still leaning towards Griots Garage for the small polisher.
Thanks SO MUCH for the advice. Can't wait to get started on the job... : )
Now for the wax decision........... Ugh... Time for Guinness...

BTW - if you do still consider the Porter Cable - its available much cheaper than at Griots Garage and you can get all the accessories they provide just in black not red (save >$100 just search for the model).
The Porter is also a fine orbital sander too if you refinish wood..
I have the Porter unit and find it perfect for occasional use - If I were a pro using it daily maybe I'd choose something else.
Get what will make you happy/satisfied but I think all these can do the job well...

I have a Cyclo which I like, as well as the new Griot's polisher, which most say is a PC knockoff. I like them both. I like the Cyclo for bigger jobs because it covers more area. It's great for final application stages (waxing and sealing) as well. No, it's not heavy and honestly is balanced better with the big handle up front. If you are looking for a good unit that is easy, nothing beats a Cyclo for ease of use. One switch and you're off. But for the cutting stages, the DA works better. I cut my teeth with the Cyclo, but the more I use the DA, the better I like it. I don't like the fact the DA makes so much noise. The Flex, by the way, is the loudest of them all by far.

I have the PC 7336 orbital sander .... subsquently fitted with Lake Country pads and choose Menzerna 2-stage compounds (Power Finish po203 works great): the larger 6" counter weight of the 7336 seems to better tame vibration when using a 5" backing plate with 6.5" pads. The mild white pad conquers most swirls, but a more aggressive orange pad will lift mild scratches .... with the same compound.
The more common PC 7424 can be fitted with the larger counter weight for ~$5 re vibration reduction.
