Alan,
I have 2 mirrors. The selection switch has 3 wires just like the picture.
5 of the 6 connectors go directly into the body of the switch. The remaining connector seems to be riveted to the outside of the switch body.
Please excuse the blurriness. I have a bad cell phone.
Would the connector that is rivited be power? or ground? How do I test with a multimeter?
Thanks!

Most likely the outside is ground but just check anyway as I noted. Are you sure its the right switch - there are several versions S4+ cars have a different switch and quite different mirror motors.
Early cars have 6 connections on the switch and S4+ cars have only 5 connections - test it and see if you get the results I noted.
Use your multimeter on ohms mode 1x is fine (or 1 ohm - 100 ohm ranges) or if there is a continuity tester use that (usually a buzzer). Use the common & ohms sockets for the probes - find probe tips that let you hook onto the terminals so you can operate the switch - OR put the switch in a vice and get a helper to operate the switch while you hold the probes on the terminals.
When a switch makes contact ohms will go to ~0 ohms (vs infinite) or the buzzer will sound.
For the L/R switch the colors should be green common to the direction switch in place of the Blue wire
then Black wire to drivers side mirror and Blue wire to passenger side mirror. Seems like your colors may be different though ...

Thanks, Alan. Methinks that someone was fiddling around with the wires before I got there.
I do have an early car with a 6 connector switch. The new switch matches up with the old one perfectly...

I just got the switch back together and wired up properly, sort of. My Driver's side mirrors work fine. They actually go up and down and side to side when I move the **** in those directions. Before, when I moved the switch up, the mirror went left (or right).
The only thing that isn't quite right is the mirror on the passenger door moves in the mirror image of the driver door (pardon the pun). Left means right and up means down. Something tells me that a PO must have been fiddling with the wires and botched them up. For now, I'll just have to deal, I guess.
Thanks again guys. You are the best!

No - this means you are good bar 2 connections. Swap the connections at the mirror for the one thats wrong. Swap the black wires & the blue wire in the passenger mirror housing.
