I don't see any chance you will find any satisfaction from this dealer.
Damage will be very hard to prove, given the condition prior to them working on it can't really be known.
They don't have the skills to fix it anyway, so any repair they might make is going to include endless doubts.
Talk to a lawyer so you don't make any simple technical mistakes that would prevent a later suit if repairs turn up sufficient evidence to warrant suing.
Find someone expert in the 928 and move forward, let them check the car, and get you back smiling on the road.

Hello everybody. Just went to the dealership yesterday and they said they would allow me to have a mechanic watch them do a compression and leak down test. I'm contemplating letting them do it but from what I've heard from another 928 owner, you could have a slightly bent rod that would come back with good numbers on the leak down test but would fail on high RPMs. Can anybody comment on that? Also does anybody know what are good numbers for compression and leak down? Thanks!

LEAK DOWN RESULTS
Ok guys I need some help here. I just came back from the dealer. They did a leak down and here are the results. As far as I knew the test is supposed to be done with 100lbs of pressure but they used 32 lbs instead claiming that this is the way their gauge is set up. They also said that the percentage drop using 32 lbs cannot be compared to the one using 100lbs and that I need to basically divide it by three to compare the results. Can anybody clarify? and confirm the results as either good or bad?
Here it is:
Cylinder 5 = 8% drop
Cylinder 4 = 12% drop
Cylinder 8 = 17% drop
Cylinder 1 = 27% drop
Cylinder 3 = 31% drop
Cylinder 7 = 4% drop
Cylinder 2 = 21% drop
Cylinder 6 = 25% drop

Those guys are full of it, take it to some one that knows 928's.
No way can you do a leak down correctly on a 928 in ten minutes.
The 32 dived by three is a joke.
You are not going to get anything from this dealer, much less your car repaired.

They're still feeding you BS, which doesn't say much of either their 928 knowledge, or their opinion of you.
Escalate to the owner, and if they just back up the service manager and team, escalate to Porsche USA. The owner should value you as a repeat customer given your history at the dealership.
Sorry to say that at this point the situation is just going to cause stress and angst all round. Resolution to your satisfaction will be a painful process, and it seems unlikely to me that the dealership will ingratiate themselves with you at this stage.
If I were you, I'd start the hunt for a well-running 928 that can put a smile on your face in these painful times. Which other 928 variations appeal? Having a fun one to enjoy will dramatically reduce stress levels and take the pressure off any delays, runarounds and misdirection.
An 86.5 5-speed would be a great car to own

My only input is this. On my leakdown kit, you set the baseline on the first cylinder and compare the rest to that. The percentage of leakdown on all of the other 7 cylinders is based on that first one. How can they give you a percentage for all eight?

Typical pressures are 80-100PSI. Next, the results of the leakdown are useful when they determine where the air is leaking. If it's a intake valve leak, air will be heard coming out of the intake. Exhaust valve leak, air will be heard out the exhaust, and ring leaks air will be heard out the oil filler tube. Apparently they did none of the examination or deterministic work that is part of the leakdown test.
These failures, combined with the hatch mark on the Alusil bore, along with leaving the car idling for hours, and hours is clear indication that they are incompetent at auto maintenance. I don't care what patches the guy has on his jump suit.
Get your car, get it away from them, fix it, keep your receipts and take them to court. Contact the BBB, and whatever auto repair customer advocate programs that are avail in your state. They will never get it right, and it will only make you more angry.

The mechanic doesn't understand the operation of the Otto cycle engine. This is a fundamental mistake which actually makes the engine look worse than it may be. The test must be done at a pressure which will insure a good seal of the rings. The air pressure gets behind the rings from the upper groove, and pushes the ring outward and downward to seal the ring against the piston and the cylinder.
Typical pressures are 80-100PSI. Next, the results of the leakdown are useful when they determine where the air is leaking. If it's a intake valve leak, air will be heard coming out of the intake. Exhaust valve leak, air will be heard out the exhaust, and ring leaks air will be heard out the oil filler tube. Apparently they did none of the examination or deterministic work that is part of the leakdown test.

I hate to say it but you are right. I hate to say it because if I take the car away from there that's the beginning of a legal mess that I wish I didn't have to enter into. I know they just want to get me out of there as soon as they can so I almost feel that if I take the car from there they will win for the time being. PORSCHE of North America has been calling me weekly and they seem very interested in helping me out but because I've been trying to protect the service Mgr. who is a nice guy (you're probably wondering why I think that...) I haven't told them to move forward. They opened a ticket# and are documenting the whole process. This leak down test is where I draw the line and I'm not satisfied. They sent the injectors to get rebuilt and are getting them back on Monday at which time they will attempt to start the engine, call me and tell me to smile for the picture on my way out. That's what they really want, to get me out of there. I'm really getting pissed off. Their condescending attitude is getting to me. I have a feeling that if I take it straight to the owner (Mrs Reeves - REEVES PORSCHE) she may just fix this whole thing with a stroke of a pen. I don't know of you read this but my girlfriend and I bought two new Range Rovers from them (2006 and 2008)
and the service manager doesn't know that. They made enough money on those two cars to buy a few 928's that's why I think that she would take care of it. I'm prepared to take this to the highest consequences if necessary. This crap cannot happen to anyone else, they don't even seem to have any remorse whatsoever. They General Mgr. did admit personally that they made a mistake but I never heard an "I'm sorry".
I thank all of you for all the support and technical advise that has empower me to discuss the issue with a level of knowledge otherwise impossible was it not for all of you. THANK YOU GUYS!!!
