Default Straight through Cat muffler?

I need advice, I have 3 options.

1. From Cat staight pipe out the back

2. Bypass the cat then a Flowmaster type chamber system where the pumpkin used to be.

3. Bypass the cat then go with a glasspack out the back

I had the muffler shop cut the pipe behind the Cat today just to see how loud it would be with a straight pipe and I can say it was pretty quiet. I told the shop I needed to give it a day to figure out the exact direction I wanted to go.

Thought?.

What state are you located?
I would suggest you keep some sort of muffler. If you decide to bypass the cat, I would suggest doing so with a Y pipe. Its a direct bolt in replacement, including the O2 sensor mount. If you don't go with a Y, make sure and get them to weld in a mount for your O2 sensor.

Well we are going to keep the Cat just nothing inside if you know what I mean. I do want a low end rumble, I just don't think I will get it with the cat so involved in soaking sound waves up. I live in TN, and in the county where we are no inspection is needed. Hell you don't even need a windsheild where we live. lol Just a lot of Nascar want a beeeeeees do you know what I mean Vern?

Where in TN?

Here's some info on dualing it.

Also Porken posts, as he did a lot of exhaust customization with a torch and can opener, might find some ideas there.

If you gut it you may not like the sound coming from the cat....

I have a Y pipe high flow cat 2 SLP loud mouth glass packs and a delta flowmaster 3" from the Y pipe back and it still barks

How loud you want it depends on how often you drive it.

My S4 with cat delete and X-pipe sounds great but when you drive it to work every day it actually starts to nag you after a while. The low rpm rumbling is great, but the BAAAAHHHH after 3000 is just too much to live with on daily basis. Great for "weekend cars" though.

Dude if you live in TN I would grab the hell outta that Borla system in Chattanooga and then get a nice Y-pipe from one of the suppliers here. Done.

I would have jumped on this being only a few hours away, but I think this is for 78-82. I can't find a proper model number on the Borla site for my 86 and don't see how it would bolt up anyway.

The only stock Borla seems to have a dedicated model number for is the 78-82 or else I'd believe you'd have to utilize a universal kit to make it fit.
