Does anyone who has powdercoated with a crinkle style finish - see below - have any comments on durability and the cleanliness of this finish over time...
How does it hold up to dust, oils/grime? is is esasy to keep clean?
would you do it again? any other comments?

I have wrinkle black, it has not stained, shows any marks etc over all the years it has been on the engine (5).
I would and will do it again without hesitation.

I did it on my 928 and on my wife's e30 BMW. The e30 has a couple thousand miles on it, and still looks great. When I was done with it, I gave it a couple of coats of high-heat clear. It seals the paint and makes it easier to clean (as well as a very nice shine). Don't worry, you're not going to lay it on thick enough to remove the wrinkle finish.

I'm looking at the black - have my powder coater running a sample on a damaged cam cover now - he'd never done this finish but has acquired the parts for it already. Sound good - this was just a final check before prodeeding (I haven't seen the sample yet though).

Do they offer the crinkle in silver as well?
That would seem like the best of both worlds for a restoration - you get a factory style silver look, but it hides little blemishes...
Either way, the examples shown above look great!

For powdercoating, they could probably mix it. In paint, spraypaint goes on so thin that you could wrinklepaint it in black, then go over it with silver before clear and it'd be just fine.
Oddly enough, I went with black because I thought it looked more factory. :P

Yes my thinking was that it would help hide blemishes better than a snooth glossy finish. I have never seen an intake or cam covers that didn't have some casting marks - mine certainly has plenty - a flat finish and some grain to it holds hope they will "disappear".
I'm looking to do a Provent install at the same time the intake is off and as part of that I hope to tidy things up by getting rid of the breather hoses running over the Porsche lettering on the covers - I'm optimistic it will be quite doable. Of course the intake tubes partially obscure them too...
