Default Anyone in Torrance CA know this car / dealer

Dealer in Torrance CA has a 1987 928 S4, blue over tan. Anyone seen this car, know this dealer or live close enough to swing by and take a look?

Thanks

Pictures aren't so hot - but looks nice enough

Nice 12 way heated drivers (comfort) seat ...I wonder about the passenger side - but prob 8 way no heat

I looked at this car when it first appeared a month or so ago, and the salesman claimed they were selling it for a local seller (possibly an 1 or 2-owner car).

So I arranged for the PPI at the Porsche dealer that was conveniently only a few blocks away. The service advisor said it had multiple leaks, various inop functions, etc. But if you want a project car, this may be OK. So I walked away.

Also, originally the price was $10,900.

Found my info...

Pacific Porsche @ 2800 PCH, Torrance did the PPI for me on July 15.

Findings: coolant leak, engine leaking oil, belly pan leak, trans leak, drive belts cracked, wiper bad, front spoiler bad, hood struts weak, headlight cracked, inop 3rd brake light, RF foglight, sunroof, cig lighter.

Looks can be decieving. Car looks nice in the pictures, would take lots of time and money to sorte out. Could be a very good project car for the right person at a much lower price.

that's not that terrible, if it was a thorough PPI, that's mostly minor stuff. The oil / trans leaks (assuming it was the oil pan gasket, for instance) is a bit of a pain, but the other issues don't sound out of the ordinary for a 22 year old car. For $8900 you can't expect it to be perfect...

But did the shop doing the PPI have a clue about 928's?

Was the flex plate or crank endplay checked?

Compression?

Forget the drive belts, how is the timing belt, its tracking, wear on cam gears, oil in the tensioner?

Will it need an intake service soon?

Where specifically are the leaks coming from?

Motor mounts?

Is it even worth writing down that hood struts don't work?

Greg is the ONLY shop in SoCal I would have do a PPI.

sure, that's what I meant by "thorough." I'd expect everything you mentioned to be checked, although hoping for anyone not on this board to check crank endplay is probably wishful thinking.

Half hour or so with a flashlight and some shop towels under a 928 and you get a solid picture of what PM has been like and whats coming up. That PPI sounded a lot more like a walk around.

Dealers make my skin crawl anyway. Experts at concealing problems or damage, experts at selling, and the overhead of a commercial operation added to the price.

Rixter,

How are you getting option information on these cars?
