I have a CNC plasma cutter at the top of my list.

When you get a Plasma Cutter get a big one, don't waste your time with the smaller ones. Once you get one you will wonder how you ever did without one, VERY handy!.

I used to do work with 2 different shops. 1 guy had a plasma the other didn't. The guy with the plasma seemed to incorporate into every job, wheeled it around with him everwhere around the shop, the guy that didn't have one would stand there and figure out how a sawzal and cuttoff tool/grinder was gonna do the job...

Tell me about the one you have.

I know better than to get a "Home Owners" type, besides that, Snappy makes a percentage off of what he sells, he would much rather sell me one that is 3 grand than one that is 12 hundred.

Buying cheap tools is never a good investment in my book.

A real good one is about $ 2600.oo and change. You also need a comercial air compressor. Now if you want to be big time fabricators, spring for a lazer cutter, or water jet. Its easy for me to run my mouth cause I work for one of Uncle Sugar's biggest Contractors. And do all my home stuff at work. Dave Roberts is right on, CNC is where its at. For what you guys are doing at home ESAB makes a great unit, and I think it out performs Miller, or Lincoln. It cost less. If you want to reproduce aluminum, or stainless panels, or make 2 to 25 of the same copies, invest in a tru-tracer of pentagraph. Also you'll need 230 volt power. 50 amp circut to run one.

But, I may have to settle for this:

This just arrived:

I'd love to find an R12/r134a recycling machine that has a relatively small footprint- running out of space in my half of the garage....

Colin, I've been looking at the lathe's as of late. No really good deals so far.

Also keeping my eye out for good tire mounting/road force balancing units. There are a few out there but the guys here want damn near what they paid for them. Not that I blame them.

What I really want is a couple of A/C recovery/cleaner units, I missed a deal on two units, one R-12 and one R134a for $400.00 the other day. I am kicking myself. The stuff I have is ok, but I can always use more and newer.

I have all the tools to do A/C, well all but the recycler. For that I just have the guys go to a shop and have the old stuff captured.

Rob, where did you get that spring compressor? I want one. I have been considering making a better one for myself, but time is a problem.

Colin- $169, free shipping. Arrived in 1 day, since they're in SoCal. Cheap Chinese steel, but the machining work is reasonably solid.

Wow, spring compressor looks just like the ones in a shop.

Before the 928 my tools lived in a drawer in a kitchen plus one old metal giant lunchbox thing. Now I have a rollaway with an intermediate box and two service carts fairly loaded with tools. I've got a few things left that I would "like" to have, SLF80 would be nice, but nothing left I "need" thanks to this place.

SnapOn industrial makes a 15mm swivel extension socket I wouldn't mind adding to this 10mm to 13mm set.

Crap. As a newbie tool addict with a growing habit, I think you just kicked me out of the car in front of a "tool house" in a not-so-good part of town. I'll just stay a little while, though, and look for myself what's going on in the front room.

Bastard.
