Default Throttle rod needed

Anyone have a good throttle rod thing (goes from ball joint to ball joint) for a 85-86 32v? I had my damn intake backfire again and it caused me to mess up the ball bup joints. I had to hammer one end flat to get it home. I guess i can buy replacement nylon inserts? Thanks.

Mine doesn't have any nylon inserts in the throttle rod, both ends are all steel.

I don't think mine has nylon inserts either. It has a little spring in there and if yours is popping off, you can rotate the spring so it contacts a different part of the ball (so it's not at the worn spot).

I think you can make those rods pretty easily too. Just some sections of rod (could be threaded all the way or just thread the ends of a piece of rod) and the ends are available at auto parts stores (may have to switch to SAE thread instead of metric, but it's only a single part).

I think we've got one around here. Let me know if you need it and I'll go dig it up.

Our old Mercedes 240 had a hole collection of similar rods and ball ends. You may stop by the local salvage yard and see if they've got one on the lot. don't know if any of the lengths would match but if you can find one that is too long you could cut off and rethread the right hand thread end. the would probably be easier than finding a left hand thread tap which would be required to make a full link (if one end is left hand thread anyway).

Zues gave me this link: http://www.jwwinco.com/products/section13/din71802/

I replaced my throttle cable ball sockets (8 mm) and they work great!
