No worried on pulling the panel yet, but thank you for the offer. I'm attemting to determine why this was done before rewiring anything. I've determine from picture comparisons that the relay looks to be the only addition on the backside.
One wire from is piggybacked onto the travelling ground in the panel that joins numerous relays. On first look, it seems the trigger wire is run to the ignition x relay and the window winders. Anyone think why this would be running to those? auto roll down module? Starter kill somehow? it doesn't make a whole lot of sense at the moment, but i know it ran before, so I can always come back and fix this later. want to get her driving a bit before adding too many variables since parked.

For the 53's, just set your meter to continuity and alligator clip 36 and 87, then apply car voltage to 85 and 86. A 9 volt battery will do it. You should hear/feel it click and then get the tone with voltage applied. No way to test the great big relays with electronics in them that I've found. Some of them have schematics on the side to help with testing others.
