I want 450rwhp out of my 5.4L when I rebuild it, that should be doable.

This is a very good point........I've also driven both the 2.0L and 2.2L S2000's and a supercharged 2.0L @ 6psi (that had good midrange)....but both of the NA engines were a joke below about 6000rpm....

Looking at the stats on my 4.0L M3 engine...rated at 414hp-295 torque....I thought it also would be gutless down low.....I was surprised to find its NOT...then I looked at the torque curve....around 260-270ftlbs (wheel) from 3000 to 8000 rpm.....

The record for a NA piston "street" (ya right) engine is 142.3HP/L but that was in a tiny 1.3L engine too.....Turbos go up to 202HP/L for the new Evo.....

But again these are TINY engines......a list of engines over 5L would be nice?

Car motor you mean . Liter major manufacturer sport bikes are mostly above that threshold.

My winter car is '06 M5 and it has 5.0L V10 with slightly over 500 hp straight out of the factory. It's very streetable on winter tires even in snow. One can pick up maybe 10% more power with (expensive) mods that still keep the car street legal and streetable, but not much more. Mine is bone stock.
