Default Ugh- Idiot warning/ How (not) to bolt a PS pump together

So in the process of cleaning up the GT, I took apart most averything that could be cleaned and plated, including the power steering pump pulley. After getting the plated bits back (2 months ago), I installed the PS pump into its mounting bracket and installed the pulley. I finished putting the engine back in this weekend, went for the first real drive- about 10 miles, no problems. Pulling into the driveway (turning right, thru the gutter at 2 miles an hour, all of a sudden there's a POP and the steering effort gets real tough as the pump begins spewing ATF onto the driveway.

I pulled the alternator and lo and behold, I forgot to install the lower medial pump case bolt back in. I must have installed the pulley without checking that all bolts were thru the bracket.....

What's wrong with this picture?

SO: Do I:

1- R&R the pulley, put a bolt in it, torque it down, and button everything up?

2- Disassemble the pump, re-seal it with a new RennBay kit (since the seal probably got blown out or blown apart when the case move open....) and then reassemble?

3- Worry that I've irreparably FUBAR'ed this pump since the case halves are visibly separated?

What a maroon.....

Wild guess, but I think it needs to be opened up and looked at. If it looks ok, button it up and see how it does.

Mike-

You're right- it needed opening.

Woulda been tough to stick a bolt back in it- that's the outer gasket that's blown out:

It blew out the funky shaped gasket thing inside too:

Oh well, Rennbay kit on the way.

It has one bolt that doesn't go in until you install it in the car?

Rob, from your first pic it looks like you forgot a bolt in the upper left corner as well. The bracket goes on the pump with a bolt from both front and back.

Aryan-

I probably did, yes. Now you know why I'm nervous any time I fire up the car after a project.....

Wait. So we're supposed to put all the bolts back in when we reassemble stuff?

This changes everything.

Not if you assemble with JB Weld.
