Heat Shield Coatings
Hey Guys, does anyone know what type of coatings is applied to the heat shields on the underside of the car? I'm referring to the ones under the torque tube and over the muffler.
It appears to be some sort of galvanization? I would like to have these replated, but I'm not even sure what to request.
Thanks for any help

I added thermo blanket on the top side of the shields. That cut 90% of the exhaust heat into the cab.
I guess Swain Coatings could apply a ceramic heat barrier coating (White lightning) but the cost compared to thermo blanket doesn't justify.

Ceramic is a great idea!
But, I am trying to save a few pennies here and there, these I just want replated for aesthetics. Are they galvanized?

Galvanized? I don't know. Aluminum I thought.
The trick today with any modern car is to use the crinkled aluminum heat shield. More surface area to dissipate the heat.

aesthetics? heatshield under the car? seriously?
TooFast is right, the better heat dissipating products aren't that cool looking. Every heat shield under my car seems to be sheet aluminum and I doubt porsche plated any of them

If they are old they may be coated with a few years of road grime and or cosmoline. Some simple green and a scotch pad and mine came up like new. they actually reflect heat now rather than absorb it! the only ones i know of that have anything on the back of them are the ones up by the headers that help sheild the engine mounts....its a foil fiberglass backing.
I cermainc coated my headers and my xpipe..inside and out.

I sprayed/cleaned mine with a product very similar to the one linked below and they came out looking new. (I wouldn't use this product close to the car, is very strong but works very well on aged aluminum)

Best coating money can buy:

I recently coated some Ferrari headers with White Lightning.
I was amazed how soon after the engine is shut off I can grab the headers. The connecting pipe is still way too hot to touch.

The ones on the 928 I think are just plain aluminum, adding some wrap sounds like a good idea, otherwise just clean them up.
I am hearing more and more good stuff about Calico coatings, so I may give them a try.
