This is the crux fo the biscuit for the 928. They have to get into the hands of someone with a desire to do their own mx. If not, things get let go.

If it's anywhere around $6k, I'd grab it, and make sure the thrust bearing is checked. Then, plan to do your own work, patiently and you'll have a nice car in a few months/years.

Car has been maintained reasonably well, and is very well priced at 5-6K. Disclaimer:

I have both A/T and I love both. The Benze A/t is a rock hard shifter on my GTS, I mean that in a good way.

Don't go all squirmy on a TB at 5 years. Remove the dist. cover, LOOK at the belt and GEAR while turning clockwise with 27MM deep socket. I'm betting you won't see any cracks in a 5-year belt. But if the gear teeth are shiny or the belt frayed on the edge, it should be replaced. I'm not sayin the 5-year rule isn't a good guide, I just think at this price, if the belt looks good, it is not a deal breaker. This takes less than an hour. Easier if the engine is cool.

If you can get it for 5.5k it sounds good to me. I bought mine before I really was involved with this board and I have managed to work through the issues without too much difficulty. These cars are very undervalued right now in my opinion, mostly because there is a stigma attached to them about maintenance costs and reliability. If you can turn your own wrench and stay active on this board, you will do fine.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm going to take a look at the car tomorrow and if I go forward I am using Cheech over at Rennwerke Porsche to do the PPI. Anyone have experience with that shop?
