Default How to remove headlight yoke?

I'm in the middle of installing a new headlight height adjuster motor (it's a euro thing).

The motor sits in the cradle supporting the headlight, held in by a couple of tabs. They are fixable, but new ones are not hugely expensive so I got one to fit.

I've removed the headlight and splash shields.

There are very few write-ups for fixing adjsuter motor problems, as they are not fitted to US-spec cars. However I found a few threads here, one of which said that to get the old motor out you have to remove the cradle, which it said was held by allen bolts underneath the cradle.

PET shows 4 "M6 pan-head screws" under the cradle which seems reassuring, but I can't see anything resembling these from inside the wheel well or outside.

Please does anyone know how to remove the cradle so that I can take off the old, faulty motor?

Start with the headlights down. From underneath in the fender push the headlight pod/yoke up - not the carrier just the pod (what would be the painted part) it will disengage from the carrier and rotate up. with this up you can locate the moiunting screws in the yoke from underneath. Its a pain in the *** and you end up with a crick in your back - but this is how - another pair of hands topside helps... but can be done by one.

Once the yoke is out the motor detaches in 0.5 seconds and reattaches in 0.5 seconds via the great quick connect feature - but it take you half an hour to get to that point...doh

Thanks Alan. It was like pushing at an open door! Feel very stupid for puzzling over it for ages when if I'd just reached out and pushed...

New motor in and works perfectly.

Will do a post-mortem on the old one - very easy to take apart and expose the pot which provides reference voltage comparison.
