Make it two years, and I'll be in it - maybe with the whole family.
We have always wanted to spend some time in the Great Pacific North Wet - as I heard it called.
Even better (for us) would be if it was in winter - that would coincide with our school summer break.

I had a funny feeling that you did not (yet) know the full extend of the issues when we were in contact last time. But I'm glad the doctor found and treated it right away. Hopefully, the worst is over now, and you will still be able to make it to Dallas. Maybe you'll just arrive a day later - like I will on Friday. But I agree with those who feel that you should not push your luck too much.
Happy Healing!

Bigs, Hope to see you here in Arlington. I arrived 35 years early for the OCIC (just wanted to be on time) It is taking place right across a small lake from Ranger stadium and three parking lots from the new Cowboys stadium.
Does Roger know that he had VD? Better yet, does Zane know? LOL

Well folks...
After much pondering, agonizing, and discussing with the missus, we've decided not to drive down.
My left eye vision is improved this morning, but the eye looks like hell. It's all bloodshot, and I look like some evil alien. It's still somewhat irritated, but a little better than yesterday.
My main concern is that vitreous detachment typically occurs in stages - it doesn't 100% detach all at once. So there is still a percentage of the vitreous that hasn't yet detached. It most likely will at some point in time, but there is no way to predict when. And when it does, there's a risk it may pull another tear in my retina. And another retinal tear will again carry a risk of retinal detachment.
And I just have nightmarish thoughts of starting to lose my vision somewhere around Shiprock NM - where I'm hours away from help either way!
So... Even though the risk would be small, the result could be devastating. With that in mind, I've decided to stay home where I have a couple of good retinal specialists immediately available along with the OR that I personally oversee.
Here's hoping all you folks have a great time! Post some pics!
(Damn. I spent two days polishing up the GTS, along with 2 months polishing up some Chopin. )

Sorry to hear about this Bigs, but the eye is more important. There will be other venues for us all to meet up, in the future.
Take care of yourself and the pretty wife first.

Drifting
Hey Bigs, I'll carry the torch and drive your GTS down there for you...just joking. Knowing you, you would want me to go.
Sorry to hear you can't go. All your adoring fans must be crushed. I know plenty of them wanted to meet "The man behind all the good advise!"
Take care of that eye, if you don't it can only happen once more before you are in really bad trouble. Then again, gyno's mainly do things by feel anyway don't they?

OK. Just in case there are any "inquiring minds" out there who "want to know..." Here's what a lasered and cryoed eye looks like - complete with all the redness, puffiness, and a watery discharge tear running down my cheek! If you look closely, you can see the actual spot where the cryo probe was applied.
Apologies to the squeamish...

That doesn't look too bad...nothing a pair of sunglasses couldn't hide
I'll let you know how the whole "sea level" delima pans out
Get well soon!

Thanks. I think it looks rather patriotic. If you squint just right, my pupil and sclera sorta have a "stars and stripes" motif going!

I'm sorry to hear you can't drive to Dallas. But you haven't said, if you can fly. After all, you have a hotel room there, and paid for the registration, right?
I won't bring my car, either.

Bigs, we will miss you, but you've made the right decision. Roger and I will offer a toast in your honor.
Now start thinking about OCIC 2010 in the PNW.
