Question on Setting the Timing
1982 928 Euro S
I went outside to check the timing on the motor. I unplugged the vacuum line and brought it up to 3,000 RPMS. It went up a little, but there were no numbers where it landed. When I plugged the vacuum line back in, the timing didn't change like I thought it should.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Steve

Maybe you didn't have the timing light on the #1 wire. That's the right-front hole on these cars. (US passenger side)
The advance line should move the timing at idle.

Alright, got it.
Is there markings past 25/26? I read that Euro's are supposed to be at 31 degrees, but there was no markers. Is this normal? If so, how do you measure it?

Porsche puts markers where you need them and stock timing on an '82 Euro S is 26 degrees.
You can set it a bit earlier for a few more ponies but that will mess up the idle speed and make the car run hotter. If you want to do that you've got to measure it and mark it yourself or just eyeball it.

Steve, A digital advance timing light is not very expensive and allows you to set the advance you desire at the timing light, while using the TDC marking.
