shipping car from Germany to Canada
Does anyone know approximate cost of shipping a car from Germany to Canada and what the duties are? I think the import duty is 6.1% plus taxes and inspection (~13% + inspection).

I think it needs to be 15 years or older too or else it's inadmissable. Check the RIV website, they might have soemthing on this. A friend of mine was trying ot bring his '97 BMW 750 over from the UK and since it wasn't 15 years or older, it was impossible.

Reviving this old thread, as I too want to ship a 15+ year old euro car to Vancouver, Canada. Did the original poster ever do this?
I also recall reading somewhere there is no duty 6.1% charged on cars 15 years or older?
Do I ship by sea to the Canadian East Coast & rail by land to Vancouver or are there ships sailing from Europe to Vancouver via the Panama canal?
Are roll on & roll off ships fairly safe to transport a non concours car? If it's good enough for new car manufacturers I 'm guessing it's fine. If it was a Porsche 959 I'd probably choose a container instead.
