Default Los Angeles A/C help

OK, so I finally have my car moved out here from the East Coast. Nice place, this southern California.... except when I'm required to drive into the valley and park for several hours, with daytime temps in the 110F range. I managed to live without A/C in NYC for years (mostly by never needing to commute during the day) but things are a bit different here!

So the day after I moved into my new LA condo with my nice underground garage, someone smashed the window of my 928 to get at a few small moving boxes. Nice. So I took the car to a local place and asked them to take a look at the A/C while they were fixing the window. $150 later they said the system doesn't hold pressure (no big surprise) but they have no idea where the leak might be.

Now I love working on my car but a) I'm super busy right now with the new job/new apt, etc and b) even if I fix the system I can't pressure test or charge it. Sooooo what I'm saying is that I need to go somewhere that knows what they're doing and is willing to work in the tight confines of the 928. Anyone have any suggestions? The closer to Westwood the better.

Thanks (and hi to all my new LA neighbors....)

Hi Mark, and welcome to Los Angeles. I don't know any 928 service places on your side of town since Marcus H closed his place in Santa Monica. The locals here take their cars to a couple different shops. Closest one to Westwood is over the hill from you in Van Nuys, part of that hot San Fernando Valley you will love for the heat and population. Still better than NYC, IMHO. Look for Hauers on Sepulveda Blvd. Jules is a 928 owner, knowledgeable and fair. He'll also install parts you bring in from 928 Int'l, which can be a plus. I'm pretty sure he does AC work, if not he will recommend a place to you.

It'll be OK to change your profile location from SD to LA.

Much appreciated, dr bob. I've actually heard of Jules from a few other members and they have similarly good things to say... sounds good!

(And thanks for the profile reminder.... I hate moving. So much updating to do.)
