Warning: M-36 Construction between US-23 and Pinckney
There are two construction sites along M-36 (main road from US-23 to Pinckney) between Hamburg and Lakeland.

You could try to snake around them on other roads, but most of them are dirt roads.
I drove through both construction sites last weekend and there was no traffic, but that can change daily.
Alternates would be:
North Territorial (Exit 49 on US-23) further south on US-23
Pinckney Road, D-19 (Exit 137 on I-96) just south of Howell
Baker Road (Exit 167 on I-94) south of Dexter
