Its not just you.
I'm not sure what most of the OPs last post has to do with anything. And exactly what this thread is supposed to accomplish.
Without all of the facts it is just a worthless guessing game.

parts paid-for and shipped from Aus to US
parts shipped to US estblishment on behalf of buyer (let's say for a moment one of the Big 3, dunno)
parts disappeared
OP asking us to look out if we see the parts and let him know
Sounds simple.

I can't beleive this would involved one of the "big three", by the way who are the "Big Three" anyway.

Roger did you say that in your best Maxwell Smart voice?
Heinrich is correct, it is no more complicated than that, but we shouldn't use names, it can be unfair to parties not associated with this issue.

If you buy/bought used GT bare heads, cam covers, intake they may be stolen property.
Roger, you are a big three if you like.

No specific knowledge of this.
Timing and contract might be important, as some states allow mechanic's liens to be placed against goods to pay for services, including storage fees.

you are doing the right thing by not telling parties involved. You will end up the bad guy
You would have been better off posting an ad to buy some heads and see what turned up.

The problem then is nobody is warned of this issue and slips under the radar, that is much more like a needle in a hay stack and also if the potential sale has already taken place, that leaves a fairly big hole in the net. You are right it in that you could have success, a friend of mine twenty years ago had an unusual dirt bike, he wanted to sell it and then it got knocked off. He went to the police and they said this has been happening in the area. His mate placed a fake ad using his bike as bait and they caught the guy. A fairly stupid guy. I don't think you are allowed to join Rennlist under a false name, not my cup of tea really.

I happen to own a fairly rare (1 of 1) race bike, it's been restored to original or better and loaned back to the mfr for display purposes. I hadn't seen it in years. I asked casually about it a couple years ago, and got a blank look from the new guy at the US headquarters. Fortunately, found it with a casual web search, sitting in a collection in the mid-west. A few phone calls and the ownership issue was straightened out, and the mfr arranged to have it recovered and returned. It sits in their headquarters now instead of 'on tour', so I can go visit it. Two others (not quite so rare) are still in the recovery process.
Like GT heads and other race parts, it's tougher when there is no real registration process or paper trail to follow. Recovering the first scooter was a reminder that stuff falls into cracks if I don't keep tabs. Recovering the others is provong more time consuming, but fortunately it's being handled well.
