strange no start symptom
Just after a nice 30 minute romp on the freeway I pulled back into town and stopped for a cold drink. Everything ran perfectly all during the drive, no symptoms at all, temp guage barely above the second line....
The engine was off for maybe 5 minutes at most while I ran in and out of the store and when I went to turn the key I had no sound at all, the tach needle jumped all the way to red line and back down to 0, the oil pressure needle jumped and settled at the same time but I'm pretty sure there was no movement of the crank, it was silent. I tried it again same thing...then a third time and it started right up like it usually does and ran perfectly.
I drove home and parked in the garage and then tried to restart it and it starts up fine, tried it a few more times and it starts each time perfectly.
Is there a switch on the clutch pedal that maybe I failed to push in hard enough the two times it didn't start or does anyone have any experience like this and what did it turn out to be?

Heat soaked starter?
Is your ignition key hot when you pull it out?

I don't think the key was hot but I'll pay attention to that in the future.
The starter was replaced with a non stock high torque model about two years ago and has been flawless but come to think of it before the old one died it did this same thing to me twice before it died completely...
