Default Testing hatch release motor

What is the best way to test the rear hatch release to see if its any good? I did a search and didnt really see a "good" way to test the motor without totally removing it. I can open the hatch with the key only. I bought more switches from 928worldwide, not long ago thinking my switches were bad, but they didnt fix the problem. I checked the wiring out and fuses and everything seems in order. Is there one wire I can ground out or something like that, to see if the release is working? I dont want to short out the entire system, as these cars have enough electrical gremlins without me adding more. Thanks for any help in advance.

Do your interior lights work in the door switched mode? does the hatch motor work when the hatch is already open? Can you test the switches to see that they work (you get batt voltage on the yellow wire when the switch is pulled?).

Do you get batt voltage on the yellow wire at the motor?

Taking the motor out and refitting it is actually very easy - just 2 screws and pop the actuator arm off (its a press fit plastric bushing).

You can apply batt voltage to the yellow wire to see if thre motor will initiate - if it does not and there is a good ground (check the brown/white wire resistance to ground with the doors/hatch open).

Check your hatch pin switch (under the hatch receiver) if your interior lights don't work it could be they were disabled by a PO due to this switch breaking... pull the wire off the switch connector and ground it to get the interior lights on and the hatch motor to initiate.

I do not hear anything when pulling any of the switches, new or old

Can you test the switches to see that they work (you get batt voltage on the yellow sire when the switch is pulled?).
I will have to try that and see if they work

Not sure I will check that along with everything else you said and see what happens.

Thanks for the input Alan, have a great day

What happens when you put power directly to the hatch release motor?

I havent done that, I was wondering if there was a way to do that without removal. I am trying to trace the wiring to find out which one is needed.
