The reason why "tuners" try to run a cooler engine is to keep head temps low to prevent detonation.

It's a trade-off many dace between a hotter (more efficient) engine or cooler heads that will be less detonation prone. Most will lean towards the second option.

This is why Todd modified his 928 engine to run without a thermostat (you cannot simply remove it). In his opinion, the slight loss in efficiency is a worth wild trade off for cooler head temps.

In a perfect world you would have two separate cooling systems, one for the heads and another for the lower end. IIRC some BMW's run this way.

As for F1 cars.......they also see 18,000+rpm

I wouldn't exactly call Todd and his tuning team a bunch of hacks

Ryan, how do you know so much about F1 cars? I have followed the motorcycle equivalent (MotoGP) for years and just started getting into F1, and have found the technology simply breathtaking. A degree in engineering would be helpful in fully understanding what is going on with one of these cars at full speed.
I love it...

I agree with the above statement however this is where the F1 engine has an advantage of mere mortals of engines, there no detonation in F1 engines, in fact they can run on premium pump gas like V power, just lower power.

They run the F1 engine very hot for the aero reasons I outlined and this hotness is the reason they don't like to sit in the pits too long. I can remember many times after a long pit stop, Bom! there goes an engine.

I was happy this morning that someone edited the title to say just "To my friends"

Then i come this evening and it still has my name in it only in code. "R*** P*******"

I see no reason why my name has to be in the subject line. I had asked that it be removed and that alone is reason enough that it be removed. However it has not and now the OP thinks its appropriate to type my identity in code. Someone edited the name out completely, but its now been inserted back in for what reason i dont know. I can only see one reason and that i think is unacceptable.

Im sorry but when i dont want my name listed in a thread, i think that should be respected and it should be removed. Why we are playing a game here is beyond me.

Mods, Please close this thread

apparently, you haven't bothered to actually read my explanation of why I referenced you---

your name was included in the title and thread because of all of the grief you have given me for two years over my interpretation of what's pertinent to any given 928 topic. despite any agreement you and I have had (for longer than five minutes) to not irritate each other, you have consistently violated that agreement between us.

you won't answer the pm I sent you today, and you won't acknowledge that as far as I am concerned, our bickering back and forth was entirely OVER long ago>

I wasn't being hateful, nor am I now, I am just stating facts as they are.

It was humor, Ryan....nothing more. You've now blown up again over something very trivial, and the mod's have/will step in again because of your crying......

If your name wasn't included, would you have stayed off the thread?

Cheers, Ryan--lighten up.

To: Gretch, Riley, Bob and anyone else who's watching this---

I have removed the name from the title of the thread. I will not modify, re-instate the name, or further agitate the situation any further. This is of my own doing, not prompted by threat of banishment or any other punitive actions.

Ryan obviously has an operating standard of his own, which many of us suffer with if we write on a subject that doesn't conform to his standard.

Frankly---if he's so uncomfortable with this forum and it's occupants, he should go to the forum that his avatar suggests.

Peace to all---

I did type you out a response to your PM but you dont accept them

The agreement as i understood it Russ, was that you not contact me or make mention of me again. Simple as that, I asked you politely to remove my name. You did, then you later decided it was best to add my name back in code which really pissed me off.

You do this to irritate me, you do this to others and im frankly tired of it. Your first post back is this kind of baiting?

Im tired of it, im also tired of your PM's suggesting i not have a heart attack and that i not run into someone thats going to beat me up or some other nonsense.

If it hasnt been made clear before, I ask you, in fact i forbid you if i may to never mention me, in any threads or posts. I have choosen to ignore you and i suggest you do the same.

And do not ever think to yourself that its appropriate to send me threatening PM's again.

Please close this thread!

What is this pandering BS ?

I should go to a forum that my avatar suggests? Do you ask this of the guys that have an avatar of a dog licking its own *****? What are they to do? Go to dogs licking *****.com? And you? Why dont you go to kitten's in spring.com

I asked you to remove my name, that was a very simple request and you have now finally chosen to do so. But not before causing a public debate about the matter. This was very simple but youve blown it out of proportion. You also thought thought it was appropriate to supplement this public matter with Personal messages to me in which you suggest i not have a heart attack over this or get assaulted by someone. Obviously your stirring the pot, what else would you call this behavior?

I have forwarded your threatening PM's to the mods and again, lets keep this simple, do not contact me in a pm or in a public thread. I do not wish to speak to you now or at any time in the foreseeable future.

Leave well enough alone already

(it's called not on my friends list--however, I will be happy to put you on the list!

(I did not remove your name--the mod's did--get your facts straight. I have as of ten minutes ago, I removed any mention of you, on my own accord.

You do this to irritate me, you do this to others and im frankly tired of it. Your first post back is this kind of baiting?

(you could have ignored then entire thread, but you chose not to. Who's fault is that? I thought you'd find it humorous, but I was wrong. So be it.

Im tired of it, im also tired of your PM's suggesting i not have a heart attack and that i not run into someone thats going to beat me up or some other nonsense.

(it's a suggestion that you not bust off on people, like you do to me on a regular basis, regardless of your assertion of agreement

If it hasnt been made clear before, I ask you, in fact i forbid you if i may to never mention me, in any threads or posts. I have choosen to ignore you and i suggest you do the same.

(I told you over a year ago to do the same thing, and you are repeatedly posting on my thread--you consistently violate your own rules?

And do not ever think to yourself that its appropriate to send me threatening PM's again.

(my pm to you was in NO way, shape or form, a threat. in fact, why don't you post it here so everyone else can see that you're off your rocker on this statement.....? per Charter rules, I give you absolute permission to publish said PM. I can't per the Charter unless you agree...but I wholeheartedly give you the chance to do it first >>>>>

Please close this thread!

please take a chill pill or something Ryan----

I've tried to be nice about it, but you still go on......
