Porsche Fest 2009 50th Anniversary Concours d' Elegance-Newport, R.I.
Was just visiting the PCA website and noticed this upcoming event.
Breathtaking venue at a great time of year. My daughter goes to school in Newport and the Concours falls on their Fall Festival weekend which will likely work well for me as I'll be there already.
Just thought I'd post the date as it might be a good opportunity for a drive for others.

Gary I will be there Can't wait, everyone has said that this is an amazing venue.
Remember that we have a large 928 contingent that drives in from other parts of the country and we host the Boston Shark Party. I guess this year 928OC will need to call it the Newport Shark Party.

Thought I'd post for those who were unaware of it so that they could start planning now. Not surprised you're on it.
Newport is truely one of my favorite places to visit. My daughter attends school there and plays sports so my wife and I get to visit quite often.
Great time to visit as well as things quiet down slightly after Labor Day and although still busy, its not as dense.
Should be a great time. The GTS is going to Dave's tonight so should be able to get it back in time for the event.
BTW, was looking at photos of your GT on the detailing forum. All I can say is WOW

We should make this a big 928 weekend, just like the last few years at Larz Anderson. I host the gtg the night before at my house, a hotel is figured out for the non-locals, saturday is the event, then Rick hosts the saturday evening 928 gtg at his house. Then people head home sunday.

Agreed Carl, we should definitely make this a big event. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out as far as planning or setup. If either you or Rick have any problems hosting I would be happy to take that up for one of the evenings. I hope the weather cooperates this year!
Porsche 928 RI, please definitely bring at least one of your cars. As others have mentioned in the past, a big part of these events is about the people just as much as it is about the cars.

A potential problem with trying to make this event into a replacement for Boston Shark Party is that it is the weekend before the Frenzy:
