You beat me to it. My '81 (light blue metallic) I used yellow caliper paint and on my '84 (Ruby red metallic) I used bright red... I think they came out pretty well. Takes patience and many coats to get it right... Like I said, I think they look pretty good behind the wheels. Are they perfect...NOT EVEN CLOSE, but from behind the wheels they look decent...better than yucky stock color.
Can't seem to find any pics of the yellow OB brakes...

If you decide to go w/ powder coating. Theres a FL rennlister who has been PC'ing alot of his own stuff and may be interested in doing a small side job. PM Firemed for details. If you look at his avatar you can see a blue intake that he did for one of his cars. It came out really nice.

Mike and James the paint looks great I think that would do fine. A "P" stencil and I'd be in business.

I did mine "79" OB Eastman cal. paint then bought vinyl decals on ebay
(the seller indicated they were hi-temp. for brakes) got about 500 miles so far and they still look good.
I bead blasted them first though and I think that made alot of dif. as far as holding up.

I used dupli color too. Didn't paint the hats, but would love to paint them gray. The S brake calipers are larger than the OB calipers. Any of the "competition package" cars or Weissach cars from '81/'82 got the S brakes and shocks/springs/sway bars.

Several cars shown have nice red calipers on red cars, but hide the great red (or other body colors) behind a protective layer of dirt and crud. No need to hide those colors, especially if you are trying to draw attention with the open wheel designs and the painted calipers. Those are foreground elements-- take care of the background wheelwell condition to finish the picture.

I concur. In my own defense I didn't have time when I was doing that job to do a GOOD wheel well cleaning... It is on the list. If I stay unemployed for much longer I should have a whole FLEET of VERY CLEAN (and very available) 928's!
