Default Behind The Oil Pump

I removed my oil pump and part of the casting had broke and got stuck in the gears. This caused scarring on the block face. It is only about 8 thousands deep, but is is almost a quarter inch wide. It goes from port to port. Does this matter? If so what should I do? Thanks for your responces.

A scar in that particular location that is 0.008" x 0.250" is pretty serious. It will probably cause some loss of oil pressure at hot idle, probably not a major problem any other time.

It can be fixed, but I can't think of an easy way.

You could make a tool to machine the surface flat, then try to machine one of the other surfaces to sink the oil pump rotors enough to make up for the machined surface.
Or you could hand-make a flat, hard steel plate to bring the surface back smooth and cut the oil pump rotors to fit the smaller cavity.
Or you could get a welder to add material to fill the scratch and then machine it back flat.
Or you can change the block.

Or, just put the engine back together and see what the hot oil pressure is. If it will hold 2 bar at idle, run it and just try to not think about it...
