Made a bigger differance than I thought it would. I think my cats were really jammed and restricting the flow. Also made a big dif. in the sound. This should have been the first thing I did.

Which one have you got? Considering your location, do you still have cats & if not, is your installation easily reversible?

I just got smogged last week so I have 2 years and I'll put hi-flows on before next smogging. It sounds so freakin' bitchun in the car, I couldn't wait to drive it today and I have a 3.2 with headers and custom Borla so I'm used to sound. This is easily reversable even though I had him weld the rear portion, it's easy to cut and re-weld. I got the unit out of Salt Lake City from Motorsport LLC. I'm not sure my unit is stock as 2 people told me it wasn't and 1 said it was. It definately had had some work done. I have and '89 auto like you Bill.

Definitely my next mod, with no cats, even though I'm in CA. I've got two years till my next smog too, might as well pull the cats and "preserve" them for next time.

The high flow cats they sell for those at motorsport take off like 1hp and barely quiet the exhaust at all, plus the HC smell is noticably better with them on, I recommend buying it with the cats and putting it all on at once and forget it. I also agree it the best mod for these cars for the money

I also have a motorsports SLC xpipe with no cats (straight pipe baby!!!) It is NOT much louder than before (stock with RMB)....but has a distinctly different tone...it still has a nice throaty burble at low rpms...but when you put your foot in it, it has a serious ripping snarl to it..... it does seem faster too

thank you for posting this. I have been thinking about one as my next upgrade. I am hoping PA soon drops the 928 from having to have a Smog inspection.

SA, you should be able to get through just fine. I've been through and passed twice since I got the crossovers with the high flow cats. Definitely go for it.

I have the Motorsport Crossover pipe on my GTS and it is soooOOOO sweet.
Dave,
Do y'all offer a stainless steel crossover pipe for use with the MSDS full length headers?
All fall to your knees and behold the Motorsport Crossover!!

Plenty of cops can smell a non cat car, sitting at a light etc. I wonder if its still just a fix it ticket, or if they are going after people for tampering like they have with some shops?
