CL: '78 (euro?) project in Maine
This one's way out of my territory, but if I wanted a project this might be it.

Needing a tank and fuel pump it's probably not going to start. But from the photos the body looks great, and the interior looks good even though it's missing some parts. It looks like it's got the Euro side markers, although that might be a photo blemish.

FWIW, the 78-79 Euros only have 10 more HP (229) than the US cars (219)
The - 80 on engines have (300)
engine code is
M28/02 3 speed auto 229 hp
M28/01 for the 5 speed 229 HP

Hmm, seems like a pretty solid project car. Are you going to take it tailpipe? IF not, I'd like to restore it.
(and I've even got a spare engine, just in case)

300 hp Euro S started in 80, but non S Euro continued until 82, with same 229 hp as 78/79 except a bit more compression and torque. A good 10 HP of the Euro rating is from no cats, so a federalized Euro in the US would be around 10 hp less, and a US model with the cat removed about 10 hp more than stock. The practical big difference is CIS on the Euro and Ljet on the US.

Hmm, I called her, she said it didn't have a title...
If it don't have a title, I certainly can't use it. I called her again to ask her to confirm this, so we will see what she says

Yeah she said it would take her 10 weeks or so to get a title, but she may be able to get the old registration. For me, that's no good. No state I have contact in will let me go that route, so I can't do anything to get the car legal, maybe it would help you. It's still worth it for parts if youve got an OB

That's really a shame. Looks too good to part out. Maybe we can find someone in Maine that can take this on and deal with the title issues. There's a difference between not having a piece of paper and not having title. This one sounds like she doesn't have the piece of paper.

I have no idea. My GF and I were going to buy it and restore it. I guess she wants to spend more time with me because I spend most weekends at my father's place where we have our "shop" set up! I agree, it would be nice if I could get it, but I'll be moving in a couple months and I probably wouldn't be able to get it running in time (unless I got the car pronto), though if I got it running, I could ship it to california where there are loads of knowledgable people ; ). I enjoyed restoring the first one, although in truth it needs a few touches still (and a new interior eventually), so I wouldn't mind doing it again.
