928 86.5 strange
Hi everyone,
I have a 1986 928 euro Auto.
I drove the car this morning and stopped for a while, when i started the engine and went into reverse the car nearly cut out, and when I drove again there was a slight hisitation and delay in engaging in 1st gear after a few minutes this went away.
could this be a relay problem ? I have changed relays ignition relay and fuel pump and LH relay, should I also change EZK ignition relay to be sure?
or is this problem a minor quirk and should be expected with the age of the car?
thanks

None of the relays mentioned have anything to do with the transmission operation.
First suggestion is to check the fluid level. Requirements:
- Car level front-to-rear and side-to-side.
- Engine running, transmission in neutral.
- Fluid tank clean enough to see the fluid and marks.
The fluid level should be between the two upper marks.

if your doing these checks by yourself put the trans in park.
Otherwise have a helper to hold their foot on the brake.
It doesnt seem to make any difference if the trans is in park or neutral, from a safety standpoint it is safer to have the car in park with the engine running, and no body in the driver seat............
