It looks like the bumpers are different between the older style bodies and the 87+ style body, based on the pics above, comparing Hold On's rear to S4ordie.

I must say that I was rather disappointed whe I clicked on "front view"

The older styles are different than the new, for one the harness is connected to the rears of the lights on the 87 and newer so it makes it easier to remove the rear PU,
First remove the light housing then the PU is removed the harness stays with the car ( 87 on)
