Or did you jump? I "jump", but in all reality it's just me kinda hopping out. I'm also attached to the plane so I dunno.

Very funny comments. Low coolant..something I never knew since I have not gone that fast. I'll say this though, at 147mph, there seemed like a lot of engine left to get close to that. Certainly felt the pull at that speed too! Would love to top end the car, but doubt it would see 180 with those fat rear dumbo ears. Where does one achieve that kind of speed...legally in the US outside of ORR?

Sh*&(*&* Keith, I've done it on main street. Between stoplights. Oh, and in first gear with a slipping clutch...

I pulled over for him and he sheepishly asked me if I knew why he was pursuing me. I said no, and he said he didn't either. Noticing the large black rectangular object hovering over his car, I instantly knew we weren't in Kansas anymore. I would lead him back, toward town at a similar velocity and hope to stop before he became a giant fetus. G

Glad to find out I am not the only one with this "issue", hehe. It happened in twice and another time another warning light came on that's related to engine cooling but I can't remember what else it could be.

Yeap, 180 mph twice and 160 a few times but that was about a year ago. Since then I have matured a bit and I have kept it below 100 mph.

Oh, the stock automatic 928 would change into 4th gear around 145 MPH IIRC :-)

I think I posted a story about getting stopped after a run like that, just shifted into 4th with a undercover cop behind me.

That sounds about right...
I was test driving the '86.5 and just as I hit the redline in 4th and went to shift......

I noticed the Highway patrol car.

She said I was going 146

but was "kind enough" to ticket me for going 99 so I wouldn't go to jail....

and I had the front seat in traffic school.
