Default 928 S4 Newbie Checking In

Well I thought I would officially check in, since I got my Porsche 928 S4 this past weekend. I am super excited about finally getting my childhood dream car. The car is in super nice shape, but doesnt run like it should. It sputters on start up and then eventually goes away after a couple minutes. It doesnt have the power it should either, so looks like I have some work, but will be great working with it.

My name is Scott (go figure haha), I grew up in SoCal and moved southeast after highschool. I live in Bartlett TN (right outside of Memphis) and currently working for the Dept of Defense as a gov civilian, Sys Admin and Network Admin. I am 40, been married for over 16 years and have no kids. I consider myself a very good person and usually try to help out others when I can. I will probably be on here all the time to get school'd up on how to fix the car and get her going. Well look forward in meeting you guyz.

Here some pics of the car.

Welcome Scott the car looks good, good luck on the restoration.
To get you up to speed on the car repairs, please read the FAQ at the top of the page it will take about 4 hours to do. Once you have completed this you will be able to make well informed decisions on what path to take to get the car running correctly

Hi Scott,
Welcome aboard as well! I was thrilled when I got mine as well. I agree with SeanR when I saw the pic. The Porsche decal drivers front side fender has to go! Also question the 1992? Looks to me like a 1987 or 1988 from dash display, also (no roof antenna prior to 1989, and no air bags prior to 1990....) I'd check the spark plugs, might be the issue... Again congrats!!

Good chance the mass air sensor is going south but also check knock sensors , hall signal generator , check for stretched throttle cable giving less than wide open , check flappy valve operation , check engine temp sensor .......If you push the right foot to the floor 14 seconds later you should be doing 100 mph ! That is the first mod , get it running like it was when it was new ! Do a compression check that is one way to see if the cam timing is close to right on both banks besides you want to look at the plugs anyway run plain old copper ones .

Congratulations! This looks like a very nice example.

Hope you can get the engine problems sorted out soon. Don't forget to check the flex plate!

Welcome and great find.
It is also helpfull to put the car stats in your signature. It will help when someone is trying to trouble shoot a problem/question.

Sorry guys, I was wondering where in the world you got the 92 year from! HAHA I guess out of my excitement, I missed the 8 on the end for 928. I have changed that......its is a 1988 model. Sorry again and thanks for the welcome.
