Thanks, this is all I needed.

I have found a car for sale - a pre-digital dash S4 5spd (2.64 rear end) but it has a GTS engine and on the paper work is registered as a 1994 GTS. Clearly something funny is going on, thus I might buy it and part it out or make another race car out of it. At least the VIN matches the body style and the rest of the car, excluding the GTS lump.

Many thanks for your help once again.

Rgds,

Alex

VIN says 1988... registration says 1994. Hmmm.

Sounds more than something funny going on -more like something illegal going on! Clearly, someone is trying to cash in on the high selling prices for real GTSs. Everyone knows a GTS engine does not make it a GTS. Also, I would still want proof it was a real GTS engine!

Tread that path very carefully...

The code on the block is M28.49 which is a GTS 5pd code, same as the one that I have in my 1990 racer...

I am looking for a GTS lump -having one is never enough

I wanted to make sure that the car is cosher. It does not sound like one. I am on to checking with the police whether it is on their "wanted" list. I would never buy a stollen anything, let alone a 928... Will keep you posted...

Thanks,

Alex
