Default Bidding on the ebay '89 "engine will not run"???

This car is about 30 miles from my house and I am thinking about bidding on it for the tranny and a couple of other parts.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...7%7C240%3A1318

I am really on the fence here if it is worth the trouble, and didn't want to bid if someone else here really wants the car.

Let me know if you are bidding and I will pass...

that ones interesting, I emailed the guy several times to find out more info and finally got out of him the starter just clicks engine doesn't turn over. so is the motor locked up? looks like he should know a little about cars looking in the background with a tow truck, large flatbed trailer, looks like he should know more than he's letting onto hard as hell to get answers out of him. .....I'am running away!!! l'll email you if you part it!

Looks okay.....since its close to you.....assuming you have a place to part it out, you could make a few $$ for your trouble..... The "engine does not run" could be lots of easy to fix things too, or it could mean the engine is a goner...... BUT if you do part out the engine let me know...as I want the heads

I talked to him today and the same. I had planned to go and look at it now for the last 2 days, but I am working 40 miles in the opposite direction which makes it difficult to get to his lot by 5:30 when he says he leaves.

I had ask him to check the option codes for 220 and he didn't know what I was talking about. I don't think he was lying because he kept me on the phone for 10 min. while he went thru all the paper work in the glove box. We wouldn't offer any more info on the car.

Its a long shot at this point

I'm watching and thinking of how to swing another shark in the yard... Second time it's been listed, not sure whyt he first deal fell through. Clicking starter does not mean a seized engine. Could be bad starter wire, bad grounds, locked bendix gear, weak battery or loose jumper post. Unless he's tried to turnt he crank by hand who knows?

I have to assume the worst. . .T. Bearing Failure!

I saw where it sold for 4425.00$ but the deal fell thru. The only reason given was a lack of correct information. Who knows.

I really am not looking to make anything extra, but would like to cover my cost if I pull the trigger. I would think for anything south of 3K you could cover that.

Boy, wouldn't that be a dream come true. I guess I am just a little "shark bit" with all the money I have tied up in mine over the past few years.

I would NOT pay more than $3k..... since it doesn't run and the owner is clueless you have to assume the engine is a TBF goner.....even still there are some parts in there that are salvageable..... If the engine and transmission are both bad....then it will be difficult to make back your $$$$ through just body parts, interior etc...

But if you do get it.....I have a LONG list from an 89 I need....so let me know....if I found one like that locally I would buy it for less than $3k...

Odd he has a shop and several wreckers but can't figure out more info on why it won't turn over? I agree though if you can get it under $3K it's a win just for the body, interior and brakes. Hell I'd pay that and transfer the hybrid powerplant over.

Best of luck. If it turns out to be a turd, give me first dibs on parts, especially the body....Since I'm from P-cola, heck were practically kinfolk.
Thanks!

I have been watching that ride for a few days but decided I didnt want a project. I ended up finding an S4 in east Tn and rolling to pick it up Sunday morning.
Obviously I am a newbie here and plan on hanging around when I bring my baby home from Matt.

Its a 1988 S4 in very nice condition. Those that went to the Skarks on the Mountain ride, probably saw it there. I am very happy and excited to put it in the 3rd car garage. Matt sounds like a great dude too, so looking forward to hang out with you guys.

I contacted the last winning bidder (from Texas) and he told me the seller would not confirm the vin number for shipping the car. Also changed his story several times on the engine problems.
