Location Location Location.....

I'll take my 10 acres and 4900 sqft home with 1800 sqft shop for $450k any day of the week over that dump.

I guess it's all in what you want. Spend a boat load of money to live elbow to elbow with people that like to let you know they spend boat loads of money, OR live out in the country like me and enjoy cold beer on the front porch.

Besides, I hate a damn pea gravel driveway, it takes about 10 miles to get those bastards out of your tire treads.

I would love to live on 10 acres, miles away from everyone too, just doesn't work that way for all of us.
If you drove around this neighborhood like I did, it's about as secluded as you can get while being 30 minutes from downtown Chicago.

I'm willing to bet you cannot see another home from inside this house, not bad for being "in the city".
When Ben Rose built the house, he was probably the only one there. It looks like he set aside enough land to keep him seperated.

Dump? Now you are just trying to be dramitic

Somebody will buy the place, and put a big McDonalds Playland hampster maze for their kids in the glass garage.

It's still a cool house, and although it's proximal to Chicago, it's in the wrong location location location for me. Plus, it would me at least a year to get a divorce settlement worked out and get moved. I'll probably stay here... it's cheaper.
