Hi there my friends
My name is David, I am new to this form, my 928S broke timing chain and bent all the valves,
looking for used valves or ideas how to fix it, eg: could we re and re a S4 engine, or could the heads of a S4 fit this engine that I have?
I really thank you in advance for your input.
I have a hobby shop in New Westminster B.C. and really enjoy working on theses cars,( 928's and 911's air cooled )

Welcome to the shark tank, David. You may wan't to drop Mason ^^^^ a PM. I think he may have what you need. I believe he is sitting on quite a few refinished heads to boot.

Hi Dave, welcome .
You should also figure out why the belt broke in the first place. Possibly a bent tensioner or a seized water pump bearing.
If any of the valves are bent then you should pull the heads off and have them checked sometimes not all of the valves get bent when the belt fails.
You will also probably need to replace the guides in the bent valve locations as they can sometimes crack or deform. It would probably be possible to reuse your old heads once a valve job has been done.
I think pulling the engine out will make things easier and quicker, plus you can then reseal the engine so it wont leak oil

Hey there my friends
You guys are awsome, have pulled the motor out and have checked the heads, they are fine just the valves are bent and exhaust guides, and Mr merlin you are 100% correct as the belt did break because of the tension pulley as the bearings were shot and rusted. I guess that is why the timing was always going off.

Welcome - this is the place to find out about all things 928.
I didn't know much about 928s when I fisrt bought mine and this forum has provided a lot of information about what I needed to pay attention to and how to work though the various projects required to get and keep my '85 on the road.
Start with the basics and read as much as you can to help you decide what you need to keep on top of. Contact one of the major parts suppliers (928 International, 928sRus, 928 Specialist) and they can help you get all the parts you need for your current problem. Take a close look at the pistons, if you haven't already, because they take a beating when they bend valves.

I was going to say buy a used engine from one of the suppliers...that might be the cheapest way to go. But if you are going to do the work yourself then get some valves and such and get that shark swimming again.
Best of luck and sorry to hear about that...it is my biggest fear with my newer 928's!
PS> I like the can in your avatar as well! I LOVE the red convertible version of that car...I think it was MC Hammer's car once upon a time if I recall...
