I got my first 928 (928S 1985) Got some questions...
I got my 928S 1985 from Ebay, it is a Iris Blue.
My question is :
1. It would be wise to drive the car from Idaho to Florida, since the PO have driven the car only 1K since 2006?? Or it would be better to use a transporter?
2. That is my second question, have any of you as use DAS (dependable auto shippers) services??
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a risky drive on an unknown car.
If you were an experienced 928 owner who was comfortable working on the car in a motel parking lot, who has the tools and manuals, it might be fun.
If you don't know anything about 928s, it could be really, really bad.
I don't have any contacts in Idaho who might could help, unfortunately. Perhaps someone on here will have a suggestion for an owner or shop in that area. I would suggest putting the location of the car into your message.

With the amount of info given on the car, I would say transport it.
If you can share a little more history about the car... TB/WP been done? Fuel system stabilised properly, tires, running condition, etc... I may be able to suggest further.
FL to ID is a long trip. Car will make the trip all day long if it's a good runner with decent tires.

Here is the history I know from the car that the PO told me, he have proof of this works, also have new tires. I never work on 928 but have a 951 that I work on, also have in the past few 911 and one 930, I do all my work on my cars. What does a 90K full service include on a 928? Thanks

Dang, looks like a great deal:

That's an interference motor. I wouldn't drive it until you can verify the condition of the TB & WP. He's only had it for 1000 miles, so he may not know of any issues it has. And I don't think it said how long ago he bought it, so something sitting for (say) 5 years I'd be extra wary of. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks Bronto, I am thinking the same as you are, He got the car in 2006, since then, he only drove the car 1K. I will transport the car. then do all the work done to get the car in shape. I know what interference motor is ( 325is 1989, 8 valves bent). So Better safe than sorry.

the only thing is that you're missing out on a great road trip. I guess you'll just have to do a round trip FL to ID next summer and show your PO the results of your work and tell him all the stories

Or perhaps ask some of the experts in the PacNW 928 group? Here is the link:

Congrats on your purchase!

Yes, I know that road trip would have been great, but better that sorry. Next summer the car would be in Puerto Rico, in PR there almost none 928 in the road. There is where I live. Maybe I will buy a newer Porsche then do the trip, time will tell. I will keep posting updates about this car.

I HATE DAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They delivered my first 928 and it was dead when it got here. Damn people lied about joy riding the car. Only the PO and I knew the passenger side window switch would stick on up and drain the battery. Since the OD was broken, they drove a quarter of a tank of gas out of the car!
Find a smaller shipping guy.
