I'm not sure what to make of this post.

But I did laugh my *** off when Greg asked if this was another DanglerB thing.

We've been running a true boost by gear system for 2 years and it seems to have passed the durability test as it is still working now even as I am fitting an improved sensor system that also allows us varying stages of nitrous by gear as well.

Car speed has nothing to do with traction......unless you have wings capable of generating mucho downforce so boost by vehicle speed is not as accurate of a way to limit torque as true boost by gear.

Sure........you will have less possibility of wheelspin at higher speed but this is a given since your car will be in a higher gear by virtue of the higher vehicle speed.

Which gear you are in determines the torque available to the wheels for any given automobile configuration.

I'm currently finishing up work on weatherproofing and final fitment of a shift position sensor on GM six speeds that allows true boost by gear for many different cars including corvettes, lambos, ferrari.....anything with a manual transmission and a boost control system that is evolved enough to incorporate the "boost by gear" feature.

This is true boost by gear we use with the ams1000 boost controller meaning you can go through the gears and the display on the ams1000 will show what gear you are in and apply boost control based on that gear regardless of car speed.

For the last two years it's worked well enough for us to hit over 270 (unofficial) in the standing mile (252.9 official) even when someone set the boost levels far too high for the lower gears.

We did this on only 1400hp but we've got a 2500hp program nearing completion that will definately require boost by gear and careful programming.

Look for this car to take the record over 270 sometime this year but don't expect that at texas as the venue is proving too short in length.

We've moved the shop and will be having a grand opening in march.

I have been released from my parts replacer jihad at Lexus and can now concentrate on something more interesting than throwing parts at cars and raping warranty to earn a living.

In the coming weeks, I will be working with other boost controller manufacturers to achieve true "boost by gear" with thier systems.

It's real

It works

It's on the current official standing mile record holder timed by Tag Heuer equipment at 252mph but we've been over 270 unofficially.

I'm sure it does, but exactly, what does your post have to do with 928's? Looks more like an advertisement for your business and the profile shows the same.

electrodyne, datsun dynamics, Z shop of miami, blue streak, nissan, toyota, lexus L-1 master technician now at performance power Location

I simply presented my answer to the thread title but have no product to push because there is no product.

I am not employed by performance power, or for that matter, anybody as of last week.

If one were interested in a solution, the information above would allow them to follow up and maybe a solution would come of it which would make the person asking the question happy......even a 928 owner.

I tried to kill two birds with one stone in mentioning the opening event that some people may be interested in attending ..... so, in the future, I guess I should spend twice the time authoring twice the number of posts.

When I had my 944 Turbo with 2.8 Liter Stroker making 380rwhp @ 16psi of boost I also purchased an eBoost boost controller specifically for the gear mapped boost control. The way the boost came on it was very difficult to get maximum acceleration an any gear lower than 3rd. I could get better times autocrossing by turning the maximum boost down to 12psi. I was very interested in setting up boost maps for 1st, 2nd, and 3 4 5 to make more power in the higher gears where I could actually use it.

The sad thing is that the 2.8 liter stroker cratered before I got around to finding some kind of gear indicator that worked with the eBoost.

You really haven't been here long enough.

Easiest solution I can think of is to install required number of simple push switches to gear selector shafts which move front and back on top of gearbox when each individual gear is selected. Similar switch as is used for reverse light. Depending on how many gears you want to limit and if switch has two or three possible positions it will take 1-5 switches. It shouldn't be too difficult to make very reliable setup. See PET section 304-00 parts 2, 3 and 4 and how they move front/back inside gearbox casing when each gear is selected. There is access to their front end after plugs are removed. At least some of the three is also directly visible from the rear above diff pinion gear housing.
