Whoa settle down pardner. Nobody is calling your baby ugly. We would just like to get a peek at her that's all. I am not so right-brained so it is difficult for me to imagine all of the ideas others have submitted. If you read my suggestion it was to put the numbers 9, 2 and 8 on the hour, minute, second hands.... that's about as creative as I can be and why I seconded the request for some conceptual designs.

I intended no malice whatsoever in my post. I understand the sensitivity of trying to coordinate this when part of a large eclectic community. I don't think anyone is negative on the idea, except realitve to cost for some. I love watches, love the 928 and will be an eager buyer when the final design, no matter what it is, is approved and the watches are manufactured.

I just checked the clock and realized it is Beer-O'Clock in Texas. Wish I were there to share one with you.

Cheers Brother

Go for it James, and I for one can't wait to see it. Just give us a little more info. ETA movement? Unitas? Sweeping seconds or subdial? Date or other complications? Bracelet or strap? SS case? C'mon a little information leaking out is a good thing.

I wear a Seiko Orange Monster as my daily beater, would love something similarly hefty and a 42mm size sounds perfect.

$800 Porsche "Swatch" watch...

Timing Belt Band? If you can do tire tread, why not a TB?

I'd be interested; love to see design choices - frankly, if I'm going to spend this kind of money, I would prefer a finer watch movement and materials. I'm not real thrilled about only the 9, 2 and 8 being the only numbers, it makes the watch face unbalanced; making the 9, 2 and 8 stand out from the other numbers (gold versus silver, for example) might be more visually appealing; however, because the watch, in whatever iteration will be unique, I'm interested in the project.

I'm a TAG fan when they were THE timing and scoring suppliers for F1..............have had one for many years but would be interested in an inovative design for the 928 marque.

I sent an email to see if the mock up of the face was done yet, but have not had a response... Be patient guys, it is coming. And frankly I have no idea what these guys (the pro's who make nice watches and sell zillions of them) have come up with either. I have passed on a few ideas and we shall see.

Hell, I might not like it either and just tell them to pound sand... That said, the horologist that has the relationship with the manufacturer has seen and sold 10's of thousands of watches and he knows what he likes, what sells, and what looks good and what is quality, AND he is a 928 fan so he has a vested interest making this cool and fun and he sells watches because that is what he loves!

I am pretty sure he is not going to be buying any new 928's with any amount of money that he will make off of this project...I will be making $0 on this, so I have no desire to make this difficult or controversial. That said, I have one of the Porsche Designs watches (someone posted a pic of one) and they really don't have any design other than the name that would make you think they relate to the cars and I hope this one will have a little more with the 928... Also those Porsche watches start at over $600 and they are Quartz movements. Those are NOT autowinders so in the eyes of most watch guys you are paying a solid $500 per watch for the name "PORSCHE" on it...

These will (or should) be higher quality and more watch afficianado oriented.

Again, I am as anxious as you guys and we will see how it looks soon...

Guess with an autowinder there's not backlighting of the watch-face with a 'Timing Belt Tension' light.

This just in: All American's have been asked to refrain from using the word "horologist " for the next 60 day's. The word was initially coined as a joke, and it appears that entirely too many people have begun using it as a real word.

I'm just glad I saw it spelled before hearing someone else say it.

Hey.
Pigs in a Blanket.
Cool.

So. If timing belt watchband.
Teeth in.
or
Teeth out.

Teeth in does let a rubber band breathe but the teeth out band looks sooo much cooler.

Teeth in would also have less of a tendency to break off and would leave a cool timing belt teeth pattern on the wrist of the user (my Porsche Design chrono leaves a slight imprint of the tread design on the strap on my wrist when I take it off)...
