Clarkson uses a technique of in-your-face negative criticism with intentional shock and offence thrown in for the primary purpose of entertaining. It's not everyone's cup of tea and perhaps there's something uniquely British thrown in as the series is not as popular in the USA as many other places. Sort of along lines of the weird stuff of Monty Python and Napoleon Dynamite (the latter being uniquely "Idaho"). His critique of cars (w/substance) is always in question. He probably secretly likes cars built in the former Soviet Union but is afraid to come out of that closet. Just my take. He is bizarre enough to catch my attention though...both in speech and off-the-wall stunts. He's running out of new things to do and it just gets crazier....

I get Monty Python but couldn't get into Napoleon Dynamite yet know others who loved it so to each their own as they say.
