Default Help with trans cable replacement please

Has anyone replaced the auto trans pressure cable AND housing on an S4? From the throttle to the trans? What's involved? Is it necessary to drop the torque tube?

TIA, Hammer

I've done it to an 84 automatic. Should be very similar.
Pretty straightforward.
TT did not need to be removed.
Exhaust and heat shields did.
Shifter cover removal
A couple of hard to reach, but not impossible, bolts that clamp the cable near the transmission.

I can share the pictures if you want.

OK. These aren't comprehensive, but should give you a good overview.

Basically, I replaced the cable because the tranny end jammed with grit and wouldn't move.

Removing hardware by tranny that clamps cable in place is self explanatory.

I used the old cable to pull the new one into place. It was easier to pull the new one down through the cockpit. This is reverse of other instructions I found, but it was easy. Greased it up good with Silglide / silicon gease.

Shifter had to be disassembled. WSM helps here. I had to make new pivot mounts for the little retaining pieces under the shift plate / old ones were broken.

Sorry, not so stepwise, just trying to help give you the flavor of this with limited pictures. Took a few hours.

I really appreciate the pics but I said "pressure" cable. The one that attaches at the throttle pivot & goes all the way back to the trans. It basically tells the trans when to shift.

Thanks, Hammer

Wow, Sorry, stupid of me.

Now I've messed up your question thread. Aaaagghh.

Somebody help save this !!! I have the 84 with TT down and tranny out.

If nobody helps by the end of the evening, I will trace the PRESSURE cable for you, end to end, under the car, with pictures.
